Help with debt in Birmingham
People in Birmingham like the rest of the UK will need help with debt both in the run up to the end of the year and after. Many people in Birmingham are struggling in the recession to deal with their debt problems. Birmingham has seen a large amount of its manufacturing industry lose jobs in recent years and with the loss of a job comes problems with debt.
Some people take credit because they can afford to service the payments which come with it and the credit allows them to buy things that they would otherwise have to budget and save for. That in itself is not a great problem as a small amount of credit can easily be repaid every month. The problems arise when the small amount of credit becomes larger and so the monthly payments combined for all the credit increases. It can be a gradual process and so it does not seem that there is too much of a problem until it is too late.
It really hits home when the household suffers from a loss of income or drop in salary, as then there are other priorities such as putting food on the table and making repayments on loans and credit cards comes a long way down the expenditure list.
If you are at the stage when you have missed a number of payments, you will be getting a number of calls every day from debt collection agencies. These can be distressing and a lot of pressure will be placed upon you by the collectors for you to make payment. If you cannot make a payment then don’t feel pressured into doing so. If you can make a payment but you don’t know who to pay or how much, it may be that you would benefit from a debt management plan.
A debt management plan is an informal arrangement whereby you make a sum of money available which is split between all your creditors, according to how much each is owed. If you make these payments the creditor may cease interest and even hold charges. It is possible to do this yourself, but it is far easier to pay a small fee for a debt management company to do all the work for you and to liaise with the creditors, making sure that payments are made on time.
If you live in Birmingham and you think that you may benefit from a debt management plan, call one of our advisors now.
